Last weekend we visited our daughter and fiance, both of whom are postdoctoral fellows at Stanford. On our "tour" of the campus, we were fortunate enough to experience Stanfords during a noon-time parade through campus. Robin tells me that the band at Stanford is a totally student-run affair (which periodically gets in trouble at away football games) that's - as you can see - pretty unconventional - as is the mascot, a walking tree.

They were a gas to see and hear.

Hey thanks, Richard. Yeah, Stanford has very high standards. My daughter, who is a postdoctoral fellow, began her position at Stanford (neuroscience) after finishing her Ph.D. from Ohio State last December.
