Battery for K-x (and other cameras that take AA's)

Simple question here, I'm using a K-X and I don't have any rechargeable batteries. Anyone have a good suggestion for rechargeable AA batteries?

Eneloops are the way to go according to everyone on this forum.
I am using Rayovacs NiMH but the newer Rayovac Hybrid version is another route to go. If you are staying with non rechargeable batteries then the Energizer E2 Lithium versions.

I'm using Uniross Hybrios, they work well, much better than the awful Zeikos 2900mAh NiMH's I got with my camera which lasts for 50 shots if I'm lucky.

The overall consensus is to use eneloops (with a good reliable charger).

There are confirmed re-badged eneloops -
important: look for the white top surrounding the +ve button, and made in Japan - only these are eneloop clones-
Duracell Pre-Charged
Sony Cycle-Energy

However almost any LSD (Low Self-Discharge) NiMH from a reputable brand will also be fine -

Brand names for LSD NiMH batteries include:

* Prolife from Fujicell
* Ready2Use Accu from Varta
* AccuEvolution from AccuPower
* Hybrid from Rayovac
* eneloop from Sanyo
* eniTime from Yuasa
* Infinium from Panasonic
* ReCyko from Gold Peak
* Instant from Vapex
* Hybrio from Uniross
* Cycle Energy from Sony
* MaxE and MaxE Plus from Ansmann
* EnergyOn from NexCell
* ActiveCharge/StayCharged/Pre-Charged from Duracell
* Pre-Charged from Kodak

The aforementioned Uniross Hybrios - some are also suspected re-badged eneloops - again look for the white top surrounds, although sometimes they may not be marked made in Japan.....

I use eneloops and DuraLoops (unofficial nickname of Duracell Pre-Charged - clones of eneloops)
on average I get over 1,100 shots in my K-x -
please see post #25 (toward bottom) in Kx in Use

Eneloop for me. I also have 2 sets of Rayovac 4.0, bought em at Costco for about $5 package of four. 1 set are in my son's 2 Wii controllers. I think these are a rebadge Rayovac hybrids for around half the price.

I use Energizer and Duracell NiMH's but that's only because I already had them (rather new) for my two flash units. They seem to do really well, but I use my K-X almost every day so the low self discharge feature isn't so useful for me. It would be more useful for me in my new flash (which I will seldom use with the K-X).

I will probably switch to Eneloops once these four sets of Duracells/Energizers start failing me. I also have the Eneloop set from Costco and use them in the Wii system, where the low self discharge feature is very useful.

I have used Duracell and $5 Rayovac AA NiMH, they were ok, but Eneloop AA are the best, it holds battery way better and longer than any other brands. I got mine Eneloop one month ago as new and it still going without a charge. So it's a must have for the K-x, Amazon has 8 AA's Eneloop for $20 right now. pretty good deal.

I use locally branded hybrid NiMH clones (ecomax). They work well for me.

Eneloops are on sale at Amazon.

Make sure you use a good charger like the La Crosse charger. It's a bit pricey but I don't see a point in using Eneloops unless you use a good charger like this.

K-X Battery?

The charger that comes with the Eneloops is fine. It will properly charge Eneloop batteries. The higher dollar chargers will also work but I've been charging my Eneloops for a year and a half with a Sanyo charger that came with one of my sets of Eneloops with no problems at all.

Hope this helps,

I would advise people to avoid the La Crosse BC900 and 909 charger, they melt:
